Hosted by the IFC's Environmental and Social Risk Management Program, Peter Dunbar from the UN-supported Principles of Responsible Investment, and Michael Hall from Development Partners International discuss the climate change risks and opportunities for private equity investors in Africa.

Peter Dunbar is a Private Equity Senior Specialist within the PRI’s Investment Practices team. Peter has 20 years experience in the asset management industry, and before joining the PRI, was a Senior Manager in the private markets team of Capital Group for over a decade. He has significant in-house experience including; ESG, investor relations and fundraising, and operations. Since leaving Capital Group in 2018, Peter has worked with a first-time PE fund, and been a Senior Advisor to Artha Partners, a placement agent focussed on advisory and fundraising services to GPs and corporates in emerging markets. Peter holds a BSc in Human and Physical Geography from Reading University in the UK. He is also a CFA charter holder.

Michael Hall is responsible for ESG and Impact at DPI. Michael has a cross-sector, cross-industry view of the opportunities and challenges of ESG and Impact strategy and implementation over his 15 years working in sustainability, particularly in emerging markets. Prior to joining DPI in 2015, Michael worked in ESG consulting roles at ERM, and prior to ERM was based on projects in Africa, the Caribbean and Iceland for Bechtel Corporation. Michael holds an MSc Environmental Technology from Imperial College London, and a BSc in Zoology from James Cook University, Australia.
